It was seriously just a couple of weeks ago that Chris and I decided that we were ready to start a little clan of our own...we were coming back to our temporary home in Alabama from North Carolina when I said, "I want a baby" and Chris said, "Are you serious? (serious head shake yes from me) Let's do it!" I love my husband so much. We always seem to be on the same page about the big stuff. We made it back to good ole Southern Alabama around midnight that night after talking about how wonderful it was all going to be at least half the way down. Of course we got started right away ;) that one's for you, Dad!
That was on December 28. Yesterday morning, January 14, I took a pregnancy test and it popped up "Pregnant" almost immediately! Chris wasn't home, he had to be at the flight line (for his first flight!!) by 5am. I was so excited I couldn't stand it...I wanted to tell somebody soooo bad. I had to stop myself from telling Kim a couple times! So to keep myself from doing that, I went over to Daleville to take some pictures at Carins Airfield, where Chris would be flying back from his first flight. I got some pictures of some random helicopters coming in, hoping one would be him, and headed over to Wally World to pick up a 2nd pregnancy test to confirm and some things for dinner. So, got home and Chris sent me a text saying he was coming home from lunch, which made me extremely happy...I could finally tell the most important person! The four hours I had to go just felt like months :) I'm a very impatient person, which if you know me, you already know this. He was so excited already when he came in the door, he had just had his nickel ride, and he was talking a mile a minute telling me all about it....when I pointed to the counter top where the pregnancy test laid, his head was still spinning from the first flight. When he finally saw it, I think his exact words were, "You gotta be shittin me!" HAHA...then he got excited all over again and gave me a big long hug and kiss and said all the sweet things my husbands tends to do. Have I said how much I love him? It's a lot! Anyway, we decided to go to lunch at Hunan, the Chinese buffet up the street, we love that place. We talked back and forth nonstop during lunch going back and forth from first flight to baby baby baby! Once we got back to the house, Chris had to go to class (first big test, too), and I had to do all kinds of things. The first thing I did was take the 2nd test, another positive, another excitement! Then I let myself tell my best friend that we were going to be mommies in the same year (she's due in April!), she was pretty excited too! My rationale was that we were having some friends over that night, and I expected them to figure it out when I wasn't having my usual wine/drinks with my meal. So I had to make sure Kim was the first friend to know, and I wouldn't get to see her until next month...it's hard being 8 hours away from your bestest friends....good rationale, right? Of course, because I can talk myself into anything...another thing you know if you know me :) So I headed up to Lyster (Medical facility on base) to get everything started. They had to do the typical pee and blood tests, and talk to me about who I wanted my doctor to be. Since Rucker is so small, they outsource the pregnant ladies. Of course, I have no clue about any doctors in this area, why would I? The nurse at Lyster was kind enough to give me a couple of drs that she would recommend. I rushed home to Google them, and decided to go with a doctor in Enterprise, instead of Dothan (30 minutes away). I think this guy will be good, he has four kids of his own, so he's gotta know something, right? Plus with him being in Enterprise, Chris might actually get to go with me to some appointments during his extremely busy flight school. I still have to check out the hospital, the one in Dothan looks pretty nice even though I've only seen it as we drive by. We'll see, there's plenty of time to change! The nurse called me back and confirmed I was pregnant from my blood test, and is putting my new doctor in the system for me so my awesome government insurance will pay for everything ;)
Anyway, I digress, I played around on the computer a little longer, talked to my best friends a bit, and started getting dinner ready. I made a lasagna, green beans, slaw, corn, and a salad for dinner and a yummy banana pudding for desert. Our friends Dan and Michelle Russell, and their 3 super cute, super fun kids were coming over. We had a great time with them. The kids remind me of my nephews that I miss terribly since moving down here, plus they are just hilariously adorable! It makes me so excited to be a mom. I can't wait to see what mine and Chris' child is like. We already know what it will look like...Chris and I looked remarkably alike as children. I guess there's a chance the kid comes out with blonde hair and blue eyes, but I certainly won't expect it! Ok, I'll have to tell more later...right now it's time for lunch!
